This Friday, the original building used as Benny’s Billiards is hosting an art exhibition inspired by Rumble Fish as well as a late night screening at the Circle Cinema!
I will be lucky enough to be flying out to Tulsa, to be attending this and hope I will see a lot of fellow like-minded fans there. Who couldn’t pass up the opportunity to see a favourite film screened in an historic location, the Circle Cinema, (which is also the cinema Ponyboy walked out of in The Outsiders:Complete Novel edition!) and see a fantastic art exhibition at the original Benny’s Billiards?
This Land Press, a fantastic new media company are putting together the video art installation as part of their Public Secrets series, curated by Lee Roy Chapman who will also introduce the later film screening at the Circle Cinema.
James Clarke, a documentary filmmaker is also travelling down this weekend to meet people to interview for his documentary on the Tulsan connection to The Outsiders and Rumble Fish. We are organising a fan get together at Caz’s Chowhouse opposite Benny’s Billiards from 6pm onwards if people want to grab a bite to eat, along with a few drinks! We’re also hoping to visit people or locations over the weekend so drop me a line if you want to meet up to share your Rumble Fish stories in Tulsa.
Tickets to the screening are available to buy at $8.50 from the Circle Cinema website itself. Be sure to RSVP to the event pages on facebook (Art Exhibit and Screening) and follow this site’s accounts on twitter or facebook as I will be updating throughout the weekend if I can…
To celebrate this site’s re-launch coming up in September/October, I will have Rumble Fish and The Outsiders related goodies to give away in the next few weeks, so please do check back here on the blog!
